A "stream of consciousness" observation on music and how we relate to it. How we purchase, listen to and enjoy music is changing. Song of the Day-Do The Pony
Dug up this tune on an Uncut compilation CD from a few years back. (Uncut is a British Rock Magazine that covers music, tv and cinema. It's sister publication Mojo is pretty much music only, with an emphasis on vintage groups. Uncut and Mojo package a thoughtfully compiled cd with each issue. Check it out. Better than Rolling Stone and Spin in my opinion.) What caught my ear at first is the borrowing of the choruse from the classic, oft-covered "Land of A Thousand Dances." Compelling and catchy, moody little number sung by Grant Lee Phillips. Shiva Burlesque was the name of his band before he put out cds under the "Grant Buffalo" nom-de-plume." Now he just records under Grant Lee Phillips. Dig it!
